On the afternoon of April 20, as one of the key events of the 2026 China–U.S. Youth Dialogue on Health (Shanghai Session), organized by the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries and co-hosted by the Shanghai People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries and other institutions, approximately 100 young physicians, nurses, medical students, and distinguished guests from renowned medical schools and hospitals in China and the United States visited the Pudong Campus of Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine for exchange and activities.

At the beginning of the event, Zheng Junke, Vice Chancellor of Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, warmly welcomed the China–U.S. medical delegation. He noted that medicine knows no borders and that young people represent the future. China and the United States share a broad foundation and common vision for cooperation in medical education and healthcare. Young medical professionals are a vital force in advancing global health development. He expressed hope that face-to-face exchanges would strengthen friendship and mutual trust between young talents from the two countries and lay a solid foundation for deeper future collaboration in scientific research, clinical practice, and talent cultivation. Zheng Junke then provided a comprehensive introduction to the history and achievements of Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, covering its historical development, disciplinary strengths, faculty development, scientific innovation, international cooperation, and medical services. He emphasized the School’s commitment to openness and international engagement, as well as its dedication to cultivating high-level medical talents with a global perspective.

During the visit, with strong support from the university library and the Teaching Support Center under the Office of Academic Affairs, the delegation toured the library, intelligent teaching spaces in the academic buildings, and the beautiful campus environment. Delegation members experienced firsthand the School’s rich educational heritage and modern campus facilities, expressing high praise for its advanced infrastructure, smart education system, and student-centered teaching philosophy. Throughout the tour, young participants from China and the United States engaged in lively and wide-ranging conversations on topics such as educational models, clinical training systems, and medical technological innovation at their respective institutions, creating a warm and engaging atmosphere.

The following day, the core academic exchange event of the 2026 China–U.S. Youth Dialogue on Health (Shanghai Session) was successfully held at Ruijin Hospital, Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine under the theme “Interdisciplinary Medical Research and Talent Education in the Era of Artificial Intelligence.” Lu Zhaohui, Acting Director of the International Affairs Office at Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, moderated the thematic dialogue session. Young medical representatives from both countries shared their academic achievements and clinical experiences on topics including cutting-edge medical innovation and clinical practice, leading to in-depth discussions and active interaction.

Members of the visiting delegation included healthcare professionals and medical students from world-leading medical schools, research institutions, and affiliated hospitals such as Harvard University, Yale University, Stanford University, University of Michigan, University of Chicago, and University of Pittsburgh.
