Recently, the Shanghai Regional Finals of the China International College Students’ Innovation Competition (2025) were held at Shanghai Jiao Tong University. With the theme “I Dare to Venture, I Strive to Create,” the competition attracted more than 56,000 entries and over 229,000 participants in the Shanghai division. In the end, 425 projects from 35 universities advanced to the municipal finals. Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine had 17 projects qualify for the municipal finals. After fierce competition, the School secured 10 Gold Awards (6 in the Main Track, 3 in the Red Journey Track, and 1 in the Industrial Track), 5 Silver Awards (all in the Main Track), and 2 Bronze Awards (1 in the Main Track and 1 in the Industrial Track). The number of projects reaching the finals, the total awards received, and the number of Gold Awards all marked the best performance in the School’s history.

The China International College Students’ Innovation Competition, jointly organized by the Ministry of Education, central government departments, and provincial-level governments, has grown into the most extensive and influential innovation and entrepreneurship event for college students in China. The Shanghai competition is co-hosted by the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission, the Shanghai Municipal Development and Reform Commission, the Shanghai Municipal Human Resources and Social Security Bureau, the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Informatization, and the Shanghai Committee of the Communist Youth League, and is organized by Shanghai Jiao Tong University and the Shanghai Student Affairs Center.
Guided by the principle of “early planning, early action, and early cultivation,” the School of Medicine began preparing for the competition in February this year. With strong commitment from senior leadership, direct oversight by responsible leaders, and robust support from the SJTU Student Innovation Center, the School’s Youth League Committee took the lead and coordinated closely with departments to systematically plan and advance each stage of the work. The School organized multiple rounds of expert reviews, intensive training sessions, defense presentations, and competition guidance, rigorously screening projects at every stage. Looking ahead, the projects that excelled in the municipal finals will continue to compete through the national training camp’s knockout and ranking stages, striving to secure places in the national competition. They will further refine and polish their projects in preparation for the China International College Students’ Innovation Competition (2025) National Finals, to be held at Zhengzhou University this September, with the goal of achieving even greater success.
