Fan Xianqunpointed out in his speech that SJTUSM has a glorious history in the field of orthopedics and has strong overall strength. He hoped that the future development of the School of Orthopedics will fully integrate with new technologies like 5G, AI, big data and Cloud Computing,etc. so that it would be further integrated the advantages of resources on orthopedic of affiliated hospitals, broken down barriers and obstacles between disciplines and institutions, promoted multi-disciplinary intersections, strengthened to train high-level specialized medical talents, enhanced the depth of talents in the field of orthopedics and reserved young talents. The school will build a new integrated developing model to comprehensively support, promote the development of the National Orthopedic Medical Center and create a world-class clinical specialty benchmark.
Professor Wang Kunzheng, theChairman-elected of Committeeof the Orthopedics Branch of the Chinese Medical Association, and Professor He Lin, an Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, delivered congratulatory speeches on the establishment of the school.
Zhang Changqing, Dean of the School of Orthopedics, Zhang Weibin, Zhao Jie and Cai Zhengdong, the Deputy Dean of the School of Orthopedics, as well as the directors of orthopedic departments of affiliated hospitals such as Renji Hospital, Xinhua Hospital, Shanghai Children's Medical Center, Children's Hospital, Tongren Hospital, etc. stood on the stage to announce the emblem of the School of Orthopedics together.
Professor Zhang Changqing, Dean of the School of Orthopedics, introduced the development plan and constructive programme of the School of Orthopedics. The school will closely focus on major clinical issues on prevention and treatment of the diseases in the field, concentrate on carrying out organized and large-scale joint scientific research, and increase the transformation rate of scientific and technological achievements. On the basis of consolidating the construction of the National Orthopedic Medical Center, SJTUSM will build a world-class orthopedic clinical diagnosis and treatment research center, a leading domestic innovative and transforming hub and demonstration zone, and an important base for training outstanding talents in orthopedics. SJTUSM will make the latest achievements and the greater contribution not only to guard citizens’ lives and health, but also to build“Healthy China”.
After the establishment ceremony, the academic speeches with the masters in the field of orthopedics were held on site. Qiu Guixing, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Zhang Yingze, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and Law Sheung Wai, the Academician of the CUHK Medical Centre, shared the topics on "Key Scientific and Technological research Strategies for the Prevention and Treatment of Spinal Malformation", "The Relationship between Basic Research and Clinical Application" and "The Growth Path of the Surgeons on Orthopedics in Hong Kong" respectively to discuss the latest developments and the most advanced academic achievements in the field of orthopedics. The academic speeches were hosted by Zhang Changqing, Dean of the School of Orthopedics.
