Biography

  • Rui-yan Zhang is professor of medicine, chief physician, doctoral supervisor, and director of the Department of Cardiovascular Medicine and the director of the Cardiac Catheterization Lab, Ruijin Hospital, Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine. He has been awarded Shanghai Leading Talent. He is a member of the Standing Committee of the Cardiovascular Disease Branch of the Chinese Medical Association, the deputy head of the Coronary Heart Disease and Atherosclerosis Group, and a standing member of the Cardiovascular Medicine Branch of the Chinese Medical Doctor Association. He is the vice chair of the Shanghai Medical Association Cardiovascular Society, and the valve working group.

  • He specializes in interventional therapy of coronary heart disease and peripheral artery disease. He focuses on translational research in areas of coronary heart disease and acute myocardial infarction. He receives a number of research fundings from the 863 Project, the Ministry of Science and Technology, and the National Natural Science Foundation of China. He has published more than 100 academic articles in journals such as Circulation, J Am Coll Cardiol, Circulation Research, Eur Heart J, and Circ Res. He has been awarded the second prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award, the Ministry of Education Science and Technology Progress Award, and Shanghai Science and Technology Progress Award.
