Biography

• Dr. Zhang is a full professor of Shanghai Jiao Tong University. He is the director of Department of Orthopedic Surgery, Shanghai Sixth People’s Hospital affiliated to Shanghai Jiao Tong University, the Director of Shanghai Institute of Microsurgery on Extremities and Institute of Orthopedic Trauma, Shanghai Jiao Tong University. He is an active clinical scientist among several national academic societies, including biomaterials, biomedical engineering, orthopedic surgery and microsurgery. He is the former Chairman of Chinese Society for Microsurgery, the former Chairman of Shanghai Orthopedics Association, and vice Chairman of many other professional societies. Prof. Zhang is the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of International Orthopedics (in Chinese),  Shanghai Medical Journal (in Chinese) . He leads Asia Pacific Society for Reconstructive Microsurgery, OTA China, AO Trauma, ARCO China and Bethune Charitable Foundation as well. He has participated and promoted a series of international guidelines on biomaterials and clinical practice. His professional activities include acting as a referee for piles of scholarly journals, as a course lecturer for more than 30 years, as a PhD supervisor for 20 years and as a skilled surgeon for thousands of his loved patients. He is now still one of the most energetic practitioners and scientists in China.
