Biography

  • Specialties at gastroenterology, diagnosis and treatment of chronic gastroenterology and liver diseases, especially chronic hepatitis, liver cirrhosis, cholestatic liver disease and medical problems before and after liver transplantation.

  • Chief physician, professor, doctoral supervisor, expert with special allowances from the State Council.

  • Graduated from the Medical Department of Shanghai First Medical University in 1965. In 1985 and 1990, studied at Chiba University and Yamagata University.  Visiting scholar at the Center for Gastroenterology and Organ Transplantation, University of Colorado School of Medicine in 1990 and 1997.

  • Served as director of the Department of Gastroenterology, director of the Shanghai Institute of Digestive Diseases, deputy director of the Key Laboratory of Gastroenterology of the Ministry of Health, deputy director of the Digestive Branch of the Shanghai Medical Association, and consultant of the autoimmune liver disease group. Guided more than 25 doctoral, post-doctoral and postgraduate students, and is mainly responsible for the national "Seventh Five-Year" research projects, the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the Ministry of Health Science Research Fund Project, etc.  Being rewarded the Shanghai Individual Medal for Elimination of Schistosomiasis, the Third Prize for Major Scientific and Technological Achievements in Shanghai, the Second Prize for Scientific and Technological Achievements of the Ministry of Health, and the Third Prize for Shanghai Scientific and Technological Progress Achievements.

  • Editor-in-Chief and Associate Editor of Complications of Chronic Liver Disease-Current Conception of Diagnosis and Treatment, Autoimmune Liver Diseases-Basic and Clinical Advances, Liver and Biliary Disease, and other more than 25 monographs, has published more than 200 papers (as first author and/or corresponding author and co-author)
