Research Interests

  • The human gut microbiota is made up of trillions of microbial cells, including bacteria, viruses, and fungi, which is vital to human health. The gut microbiota interacts with the host mainly through signals triggered by microbial metabolites. The current research in our Lab focuses on the following areas: A. Uses in vitro, ex vivo, in vivo models and clinical specimens to understand roles of gut microbiota and metabolites in the pathogenesis pediatric gastrointestinal diseases, such as inflammatory bowel diseases. B. To explore the interactions between gut microbiota, microbial metabolites and host immunity. C. Probiotic strains isolation, function study and mechanism investigation.
