Research Interests

• Dr. Wei-Qiang Gao is Director of Renji Hospital Stem Cell Research Center, Dean of Med-X Research Institute, and past Director of State Key Laboratory of Oncogenes and Related Genes. He received his PhD at Columbia University, did post-doc work at Rockefeller University and was a lab head and senior scientist at Genentech before he returned to China in 2010.  His research interests include plasticity and therapeutic resistance of cancer stem cells, cancer immunology, stem cells and regenerative medicine and auditory hair cell regeneration. He is also interested in translational medicine for treatment of various types of cancers and other diseases.
