Research Interests

• Dr. Zhai Wei is mainly engaged in minimal invasive surgery and clinical basic research of the three major tumors in the urinary system, especially renal cell carcinoma. Dr. Zhai Wei and his team mainly carried out scientific research on three clinical issues: prognosis of renal cell carcinoma, causes of metastasis and mechanism of drug resistance. First of all, a new gene named LncRNA-SARCC which was correlated with patients’ prognosis was found in hypoxia-mediated manner.  Secondly, they find the key molecules that play a role in metastasis of renal cell carcinoma, which provides potential new targets for treatment. Lastly, their discovery of new molecules that contribute to targeted therapy resistance lays profound scientific basis for solving targeted therapy resistance in patients.

• His Specialties are as follows : 1. renal tumors: robotic and laparoscopic minimally invasive treatment of renal cancer, with special expertise in robotic minimally invasive kidney preservation surgery for completely endogenous renal tumors and hilar tumors. 2. Uroepithelial tumor: laparoscopic radical resection of renal pelvis tumor and ureteral tumor and lymph node dissection. 3. Adrenal tumor: laparoscopic minimally invasive treatment of functional and non-functional adrenal tumors. 4. Comprehensive treatment of advanced metastatic renal tumors and uroepithelial tumors.
