Biography

  • Dr. Shanghui Zhou obtained his M.D. and Ph.D. from Xiangya School of Medicine, Central South University and did his postdoc training in the Department of Otorhinolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, University of Pennsylvania, USA. He joined the Department of Oral & Maxillofacial - Head & Neck Oncology, Shanghai Ninth People’s Hospital, Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine in 2009, and was appointed as attending in 2010 and associate professor in 2016.

  • Dr. Zhou is a consultant surgeon majoring in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and has 20 years of clinical experience. His research mainly focuses on the epidemiology of OSF malignant transformation and its underlying molecular mechanisms. He was awarded several grants including the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), Shanghai Pujiang Program, and  Natural Science Foundation of Shanghai, etc. He has published 27 scientific papers in international journals and 1 book on chewing betel nut and oral health. He is an external reviewer for multiple scientific journals including Oral Oncology, Cellular Oncology, etc.
