Personal Introduction

  • Dr. Feng Wang is a Professor and Principal Investigator at Shanghai Institute of Immunology, Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine. Dr. Wang obtained his BS from Beijing Normal University, PhD from National Institute of Biological Sciences, Beijing (NIBS), and received postdoc trainings at Stanford University with Prof. Mark M Davis. His recent publications including Nature Immunology (2016), PNAS (2018, 2020), Journal of Neuroinflammation (2019), BMC Biology (2020), Clinical & Translational Immunology (2020), Frontiers in Cell and Developmental Biology (2021), Cell Death & Disease (2021), Cell & Bioscience (2022), EMBO Journal (2022). Dr. Feng Wang was awarded with the National High Level Talents Special Support Plan, the Program for Professor of Special Appointment (Eastern Scholar), Shanghai Pujiang Program and the Top Young Talent Program of Shanghai.

Scientific Research Projects

  • The long-term goal of Dr. Wang’s laboratory is to harness the immune system to fight cancer and infectious diseases. The rationale for this proposed goal is that, once it is known how T cell recognition/signaling is determined and regulated, these processes can likely be manipulated pharmacologically or genetically, leading to innovative approaches to optimize the immune response for preventing and treating various human diseases.

  • The research in Dr. Wang’s laboratory focuses on the mechanism of antigen recognition, signaling transduction and metabolic regulation of T lymphocytes. Three research directions include: (1) Regulation of T cell signaling by naturally occurring metabolites; (2) The role of antigen-specific T cell in anti-tumor and anti-viral immune response; (3) The mechanism of anti-tumor immunity and autoimmunity induced by immune checkpoint blockade.
