The Shanghai Key Laboratory of Reproductive Medicine was established in 1996， completed acceptance and listed officially in 1998. The key laboratory is authorized by Shanghai Science and Technology Committee and supported by Shanghai Jiaotong University School of Medicine. The successive Directors of the Key Laboratory were Professor Yifei Wang （1998-2001）and Professor Chen Xu (2002-2017). The current Director is Professor Ying Jin. Currently there are 20 principal investigators in the laboratory including 4 Key Project Leaders of Ministry of Science and Technology, 4 Distinguished Young Scholars of the National Science Foundation of China, 1 Changjiang Scholar of the Ministry of Education, 2 New century Outstanding talents of the Ministry of Education, 3 Leading talents of Shanghai, 2 Shanghai Oriental Scholars, 6 Pujiang talents of Shanghai, 1 Dawn scholar of Shanghai. For the past 9 years the laboratory has published more than 200 research papers in the international first-class magazines such as Cell Stem Cell，Cell Metabolism, Cell Research，Development Cell，PNAS, etc. The key laboratory strives to meet the new trend of the development of modern regenerative medicine, focusing on reproductive medicine, stem cell biology and diseases related to development and genetics. The main research fields of the key laboratory are: (1) gametogenesis, fertilization and human reproductive diseases; (2) self-renewal, differentiation of pluripotent stem cells and new strategies for tissue repair and regeneration; (3) the relationship of abnormal development of gametes or stem cells and diseases related to tumor and metabolism. The key laboratory will strengthen the cooperation between basic research and clinical research, focusing on the mechanism research of gametogenesis, early life development and genetic related diseases, promoting technology development and clinical translation.
