Prof. Jiang Fan (female, Han nationality), was born in Rui’an, Zhejiang Province. She is a member of the Communist Party of China, a Doctor of Medicine, professor, chief physician, and PhD supervisor. She is currently Deputy Secretary of the CPC Committee of Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU), Secretary of the CPC Committee of Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine (SJTUSM), a delegate to the 19th CPC National Congress, and Vice-chairperson of the 12th Committee of Shanghai Youth Federation.

Jiang studied Pediatrics from September 1993 to July 1998 at Shanghai Second Medical University (SHSMU) and got her bachelor’s degree. From September 1998 to July 2001, she studied Pediatrics at SHSMU and got her master’s degree. From September 2002 to July 2005, she studied Pediatrics at SHSMU and got her doctorate. She has served successively as a member of the Standing Committee of SJTUSM, Vice Chancellor of SJTUSM, Vice Dean of Pediatrics School, SJTUSM, Secretary of the CPC Committee of Shanghai Children’s Medical Center and Secretary of Committee for Discipline Inspection of Shanghai Children’s Medical Center.

With a particular focus on the research on sleep and the impact of early social environment on brain development over the years, Jiang is committed to applying the brain research findings to the population transformation research of early childhood development and brain development of children and adolescents. She worked in Cincinnati Children's Hospital and Wisconsin Children's Hospital for 2 years in the United States, and worked in the World Health Organization for 3 months as a coordinator of the pediatrics projects of the global birth cohort development behaviors. She has headed multiple national, provincial and ministry-level projects including the major research plan of the Ministry of Science and Technology, the key project of the Ministry of Health, the Dawn Project, and the Venus Project, and has published more than 200 academic papers in domestic and international journals.

Jiang has been awarded New Century Outstanding Talent by Ministry of Education (MoE), Shanghai’s Ten Most Outstanding Young Persons, Shanghai Woman Pace-setter, Shanghai Outstanding Woman Pace-setter, Shanghai Outstanding Woman Worker, Shanghai Excellent Worker of Party Affairs, Shanghai Leading Talent, Shanghai Excellent Academic Leader, Shanghai Key Discipline Leader of Public Health, and Great Teacher for Resident Physicians by Chinese Medical Doctor Association. She has won the second prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award (2/10), the first prize of the Ministry of Education's Science and Technology Progress Award (3/14), the first prize of the 14th "Silver Snake Award" of the Shanghai health system, the first prize of the 7th "Shulan Young Doctors Award", and China Youth May 4th Medal. She concurrently serves as deputy director of the Key Laboratory of Environment and Child Health of the MoE, council member of the Chinese Medical Association, head of the child care group of the Pediatric Branch of the Chinese Medical Association, chairperson of the Child Health Special Committee of the Chinese Medical Doctor Association, vice chairperson of the Child Care Committee of the Chinese Preventive Medicine Association, head of the Children's Sleep Medicine Group of the Sleep Health Special Committee of the Chinese Medical Doctor Association, member of the Chinese Association of Young Scientists and Technologists, member of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, and member of the World Sleep Society.

She is responsible for the overall work of the CPC Committee of SJTUSM, and is in charge of Party development, cadre affairs, the united front, veteran cadre affairs, Party school and comprehensive reform.

She is also responsible for liaison with Renji Hospital and Children’s Hospital of Shanghai.
