Dr. Jun Nagai received his Ph.D. from Waseda University in Japan in 2015. From 2016 to 2020, he worked as a postdoctoral fellow in the laboratory of Baljit S. Khakh at the University of California, Los Angeles. In 2021, he returned to Japan and established his own laboratory at the RIKEN Institute.。

Dr. Jun Nagai is currently employed at the RIKEN Institute in Japan, where he serves as the Principal Investigator (PI) of the Glia-Neuron Circuit Dynamics research group and holds a concurrent position as a Visiting Associate Professor at Waseda University in Japan. Dr. Nagai received his postdoctoral training at the University of California, Los Angeles, and has served as a JSPS (Japan Society for the Promotion of Science) Senior Researcher, securing multiple research grants from the Japanese government. As an outstanding young neuroscientist, his significant contributions to the field are primarily focused on the interactions between astrocytes and neurons, as well as the development of glia-specific AAV viral probes as genetic tools. His research has been published in internationally recognized journals such as Cell, Neuron, and Nature Reviews Neuroscience.
