Biography

  • Professor Pan graduated from Shanghai Second Medical University (Now Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine) in 1985, majored in General Medicine, and is the chief physician in general surgery. Since March 2016, Professor Pan served as the President of Shanghai Chest Hospital and Director of Shanghai Thoracic Oncology Research Institute, and is the executive directors of Shanghai Hospital Association, Shanghai Medical Doctor Association, and Shanghai Medical Association. He has been the vice chairman of Internet Health Special Committee of Chinese Hospital Association, and editorial board member of Chinese version of BMJ (Q&S). Since 1998, Professor Pan has served as the Deputy Administrative Director of General Surgery Department of Shanghai General Hospital. Since April 2008, he has served as the vice president of Shanghai General Hospital and the president of Hongkou Branch of Shanghai General Hospital. In 2019, Professor Pan was employed as a part-time professor of Shanghai Jiao Tong University Medical Robot Research Institute. Professor Pan specializes in standardized surgical treatment and various comprehensive treatments of gastrointestinal tumors with profound attainments. In 2001, as the second person in charge, he worked with his team to realize four “FIRST” in Shanghai, including: the FIRST case of pancreas exocrine intestinal drainage stage-one simultaneous pancreas kidney transplantation; the FIRST case of reduced volume orthotopic liver transplantation; the FIRST case of combined liver and kidney transplantation; the FIRST case of emergency liver transplantation for severe hepatitis. Professor Pan has published 42 papers on SCI and core journals, participated in 2 monographs, and chaired 7 provincial and ministerial level projects. He has won 2 scientific and technological achievements in Shanghai, owned 6 patents, and received 3 Shanghai honorary titles.
