Biography

• Prof. Zhou is one of the founders and pioneers of interventional treatment for congenital heart diseases(CHDs) in China. He firstly reported more than 10 interventional diagnosis and treatment techniques for congenital heart disease in China. In 1990, he primarily designed domestic balloon dilatation catheter and promoted its clinical application. As a chief editor , Prof. Zhou presided to write 1st. edition of interventional guidelines for congenital heart diseases in China and the expert consensus on pulmonary hypertension in children. He also edited the first book on cardiac catheterization for congenital heart diseases in Chinese which has become the major reference book for specialist training of the Ministry of Health. He has published more than 100 articles and has won 11 awards including the third prize of National Science and Technology Progress. He received the China Interventional Cardiology Lifetime Achievement Award from the Chinese Medical Association(2005) and Pioneering Award in Interventional Therapy for CHDs(2006), and Lifetime Achievement Award for pediatricians in China(2018). As the deputy leader of the pediatric cardiovascular group of the Chinese Medical Association and a member of the cardiovascular expert group of the Ministry of Health, Prof. Zhou promotes interventional techniques for congenital heart diseases in China .
