Biography

  • Dr. Peiquan Zhao is the Director of Ophthalmology Department, Xinhua Hospital affiliated to Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine. He is also the Vice Chairman of the Ophthalmology & Vision Science Research Institute, and Head of ROP and Pediatric Eye Disease Center of Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine. He is member of ICO Task Force on Diabetic Eye Care and ICROP3, council member of APVRS, member of Club Jules Gonin, Macula society and ASRS. He is also Board Member of Chinese Ophthalmological Society (COS), and Past Vice Chief of Ophthalmology Group Shanghai Society of COS. Dr. Zhao has focused on pediatric and adult vitreoretinal diseases, both in clinical area and research, especially in retinopathy of prematurity, familial exudative vitreoretinopathy and macular diseases. He has published over 200 papers, including over 130 peer-reviewed papers. He was awarded 2015 Excellent Leader of Shanghai Science and Technology Commission, 2016 APAO Distinguished Service Award, State Scientific and Technological Progress Award (2nd), Shanghai Leading Talent, 2018 ASRS Film Festival Top 10 Rhett Buckler Award and 2020 ASRS Honor Award.
