Biography

• Dr. Gao, Zhongdu graduated from the Medical Department of the Air Force Medical University in 1968, he successively served as a resident military physician and attended military physician respectively in the 463 Hospital and 455 Hospital of the People's Liberation Army. In 1990, after being transferred to the civil work, he went to the US and took one-year visiting and studying in the Institute of Life Sciences of the Texas State University. From 1992 to the present, he has been working in the Department of Internal Medicine of our hospital and assuming the posts of departmental deputy chief, dean, deputy chief physician and chief physician. During this period, he also serves as an adjunct associate professor and professor at the School of Medicine of Shanghai Jiaotong University.

• During more than 40 years of medical practice, Dr. Gao Zhongdu has always been adhering to the spirit of "dedication, perfection, pragmatism and devotion". As the founder and discipline leader of the Interventional Diagnosis and Treatment Center of our hospital, he has devoted himself to researching interventional techniques and has developed or carried out more than 40 new technologies, new projects and new businesses, and performed more than 12,000 interventional operations and there was no occurrence of any medical error.

• Under his leadership, the Interventional Diagnosis and Treatment Center of our hospital was awarded as a leading medical specialty in Shanghai and subsequently developed into a key medical specialty in Shanghai. In addition, Dr. Gao also is also well versed in the specialty of cardiovascular medicine, and after years of unremitting efforts, our cardiology department has been built into a leading medical specialty in Changning District. Dr. Gao attached great importance to scientific research in his clinical practice and has successively won 4 military science and technology progress awards, 2 science and technology progress awards of Shanghai Changning District, 4 science and technology progress awards of Shanghai municipality. Moreover, he has published more than 200 papers in professional journals and more than 50 articles about scientific popularization, as well as serving as a member of the editorial board of 7 professional journals. In his medical work, he has won various honorary titles and awards including the Exemplary Demobilized and Transferred Military Cadre in Shanghai, Top Five Doctors in Changning District, the nomination award of Shanghai's Top Ten Doctors, the special allowance of the State Council and the Model Worker of Shanghai, among others. He is the Lifelong Honorary Professor of Tongren Hospital.
