Biography

• Professor Fuqiang Zhang, D.D.S., Ph.D., chief physician and doctoral tutor, tenured professor of Shanghai Ninth People's Hospital，Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, the honorary director of Shanghai Institute of Stomatology, the former president of Shanghai Stomatological Association.

• Professor Zhang is also the Past President of the Asia Academy of Prosthodontics, the Past President of the Prosthodontic Professional Committee of Chinese Stomatological Association, the Past Vice President of the Dental Computer Professional Committee of Chinese Stomatological Association, the Honorary President of Prosthodontic Professional Committee of Shanghai Stomatological Association, the academician of the International College of Dentists, and the member of the International Association for Dental Research. Meanwhile, he is the deputy editor of Shanghai Journal of Stomatology, and the editorial board member of Chinese Journal of Stomatology, Journal of Practical Stomatology, Journal of Clinical Stomatology, Chinese Journal of Prosthodontics, West China Journal of Stomatology, etc. He was employed as the medical expert of Clinical Pathway Technical Audit Expert Committee by the Ministry of Health, and then the medical expert of Chinese Medical Association, the expert in the evaluation of National Science and Technology Awards. Also, he has been enjoying the Special Allowance of the State Council since 1999, and was granted with the titles of “Outstanding Youth Expert” by the Ministry of Health in 2006 and the “Advanced Workers in the health care work of the central government” in 2005. He won the “Principal Award” of Shanghai Second Medical University in 2005, the “Outstanding Contribution Award” issued by Shanghai Ninth People's Hospital in 2010 and the honor of “Zhen Dan Award’ issued by Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine in 2012.

• Professor Zhang has long been engaged in prosthodontics with rich clinical experience in the treatment of difficult cases of dental defect, dentition defect and edentulous jaw. Besides, he also devoted himself deeply in the fields of basic and clinical research of advanced materials and techniques in prosthodontics. His rich achievements in scientific research brought him 1 Grade Ⅲ Prize of Science and Technology Progress issued by the Ministry of Health, 2 Grade Ⅱ Prize of Science and Technology Progress issued by Shanghai Committee of Science and Technology, 1 Third prize of Shanghai Health Bureau, and 3 Grade II Prize of Science and Technology Progress issued by Shanghai Health Bureau.

• Professor Zhang also made outstanding contributions to dental education. During the year from 1996 to 2012, he served as the director of teaching office of prosthodontics at Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Stomatology and made great contributions to the dental education. As a tutor, he has well taught and educated 3 postdoctoral fellows, 45 doctoral students and 20 postgraduates till now. He has published over 250 academic papers over the years. He has also published 10 academic books.
