Biography

  • Dingliang Zhu is lifetime Professor of Ruijin Hospital affiliated to Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine. He graduated from Shanghai Second Military Medical University in 1966, received his Master’s degree from Shanghai Second Medical College in1981 and PhD from University of Paris VI, France in1992. He was a visiting scientist in Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (1986-1988) and the research units of INSERM and CNRS, France (1988-1995). In 1996, he joined Shanghai Institute of Hypertension (SIH), and  became Director of the Department of Cellular and Molecular Biology, Director of SIH (1998-2011) and Chief of the Department of Hypertension in Ruijin Hospital (2002-2008). In 2005, he was elected the vice-president of Chinese Hypertension League (2005-2017).

  • Dr. Zhu has devoted to the basic, clinical and community research of hypertension. One of his main research interest is the mechanism of vascular remodeling. In 1999, he established Shanghai Key Laboratory of Vascular Biology. His another interest is the molecular genetics of hypertension. He led to build a huge sample of hypertension genetic biobank. Since 2011, he has expanded his research to community prevention of hypertension. He is currently Director of the Center for Hypertension Management in Community, SIH.
