Biography

  • Wei-feng Shen is an Emeritus Professor of Medicine, chief physician, and doctoral supervisor of Ruijin Hospital, Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine. He was graduated from Shanghai Second Medical University in 1975 and received his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Sydney, Australia in 1985. He was the vice president of Ruijin Hospital, and the vice chair of the Cardiovascular Branch of the Chinese Medical Association. He is currently a member of the National Cardiology Expert Committee, director of the Shanghai Cardiac Interventional Quality Control Center, and director of the Institute of Cardiovascular Disease. He is the honorary chairman of the Cardiovascular Branch of the Shanghai Medical Association, and a member of the European, French, and Hong Kong Cardiology Association. He is editor-in-chief of The International Journal of Cardiovascular Diseases, executive editor-in-chief of The Chinese Journal of Interventional Cardiology, deputy editor-in-chief of The Chinese Journal of Medical Science, Chinese Journal of Cardiovascular Disease, and Journal of Interventional Radiology.

  • He specializes in interventional cardiology, diagnosis and treatment of high-risk coronary heart disease, heart failure, and valvular heart disease. He has published more than 200 SCI articles and edited more than 10 monographs. He has been awarded the second prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award, the first prize of the Shanghai Science and Technology Progress Award, the second prize of Chinese Medicine, and the second prize of the Medical Science and Technology Award of the Ministry of Education. He has been awarded the Excellent Returned Overseas Student of the Ministry of Personnel and the Model Worker of the National Health System.
