Biography

• Professor Nan Chen is the director of the Institute of Nephrology, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and a tenured professor in the Ruijin Hospital, Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine. Dr. Chen was elected as an Academician of the French National Academy of Medicine (correspondence). She was the Vice President of Chinese Society of Nephrology from 2005 to 2012, the Vice President of Chinese Medicine Association of Nephrology and President, the President of Shanghai Medical Association Nephrology Branch. She currently serves as president of China Medicine Education Association of Nephrology, Shanghai Society of Nephrologists and the Vice President of Shanghai Society of Rare Disease. She is both a clinician and well-known physician-scientist. She has published more than 300 papers in international peer-reviewed academic journals, including New England Journal of Medicine, received more than 30 grants including National Natural Scientific Foundation of China, National 973 program, Mega-projects of Science Research for the 12th Five-Year Plan, Specific-Fund of Ministry of Health P.R China and et al and multiple scientific awards for her research projects including American NKF’s International Distinguished Medal Recipient (2012), First Prize, Scientific advanced Prize awarded by Chinese ministry of Public health (2018) and Pinner Award for north and east Asia(2021) et al, and leads a research team at Ruijin Hospital.
