Biography

• A former Chief of Heart Center at Shanghai Children’ Medical Center and chief of Department of Pediatric Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery. Received Clinical Research Fellow at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto 1986.  Former Vice-Director of Shanghai Medical Association of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery, Head of Chinese Medical Society of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery in Congenital Heart Disease and Member of the standing committee of Chinese Medical Association of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery. Received Model Worker in Shanghai 2001-2003, “Best Doctors" in Shanghai 2004 and “Golden Knife” in Chinese Medical Society of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery 2008.

• He has played a major role in the development of surgical repair of congenital heart disease in infants and neonates. On clinically, many new technical and surgical procedures were first published in China such as: Arterial switch operation, Surgical repair of tracheal stenosis with complex congenital heart disease in infants, Double-Switch operation, Rapid two-stage arterial switch operation and Aortic translocation and so on. Research focus is on the influence of deep hypothermia cardiopulmonary bypass with circulatory arrest or low flow on nervous function in children undergoing surgical intervention and surgical strategy of congenital tracheal stenosis.
