Research Interests

• Dr. Shen is an orthopedic surgeon specializing in hip and knee replacement and revision with a special interest in periprosthetic joint infection (PJI). He is the vice director of the Orthopedic department at Shanghai Sixth People’s Hospital and also one of the principal investigators of Shanghai Institute of Microsurgery on Extremities.

• Dr. Shen is interested in research regarding the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of orthopedic infections including periprosthetic joint infection (PJI), osteomyelitis and orthopedic implant-associated infection (IAI). Dr. Shen has contributed to the prevention and treatment of orthopedic infections by developing novel methods and biomaterials. Since the most common pathogen of Staphylococcus aureus, he and his team also focus on S. aureus pathogenesis in chronic IAI. His long-term goal is to develop novel prophylactic and therapeutic strategies for IAI.
