Research Interests
Dr. Hong has fifteen years’ experience of pediatric surgery and thirteen years’ pediatric nutrition. Her major research focuses on evidence-based and big-data research on pediatric nutrition, gut microbiota in early life and intestinal infection.
Dr. Hong’s interests of clinical practice as well as research include medical nutrition therapy for surgeries, short bowel syndrome, parenteral nutrition-associated cholestasis, liver and marrow transplantation, hematology and oncology, food allergy and related malnutrition, pediatric critical illness, preterm infants, congenital heart diseases, childhood obesity, diabetes, and anorexia. Moreover, Dr. Hong’s group has contributed to 5 Chinese guidelines and consensus on nutrition management for surgeries, food allergy, childhood obesity and diabetes. In addition, Dr. Hong maintains a long-term international cooperation with world-renowned clinical institutions, e.g., Boston Children’s Hospital and Comer’s Children Hospital.
