Prof Cai's major research interest lies in the discovery and functional characterization of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, hepatocellular carcinoma and liver failure. In addition, her work contributed significantly to the understanding of the molecular basis of comprehensive therapy for liver diseases in both rodents and humans.
