October 24, 2022 is the 70th anniversary of Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine. We have received many greetings from teachers, students, medical staff, alumni and friends from all walks of life since we announced the celebration events. We would like to express sincere greetings and heartfelt thanks to all of you!

Going through seventy years, SJTUSM will keep forging ahead. In order to further gather the strength of alumni, carry forward the spirit of SJTUSM, and promote medical research, we hereby announce the anniversary slogan and logos as below:

1. The slogan of the 70th anniversary is “seventy years of vicissitudes, glories in medicine development”.

2. After open solicitation and expert selection, the 70th anniversary logo is determined as follows:

Here is the interpretation of the logos: The logo for the 70th anniversary of SJTUSM incorporates the two numbers 7 and 0 into the snake stick. The stick comes from the deformation of “7” and the snake “0” to uphold the original intention of medicine and practice superb medical skills, respectively. The three letters J, A, and T are integrated into the overall design, symbolizing the merger of St. John’s University School of Medicine, Aurora University School of Medicine, and Tongde Medical College. The overall design is presented in the form of flag, implying the vision of building a medical college with “World-class, Chinese characteristics, Shanghai style and SJTUSM traits”.

In order to better review the history of schooling and summarize the experience of schooling, the Exhibition Hall of School History is under construction. We hope to collect valuable historical materials and cultural relics from teachers, students, medical staff, alumni at home and abroad, and all walks of life, including manuscripts, pictures, images, licenses or certificates and other materials, as well as teaching aids, instrument models, and monographs.

SJTUSM has established an independent foundation, “Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine Education Development Foundation”, aiming to bring strengths together to develop education. We are looking forward to receiving funds from teachers, students, medical staff, alumni at home and abroad, enterprises, institutions, groups and individuals with our heartfelt thanks and high respect.
