Biography

• Professor Xu Chun is currently the Director of the Department of Prosthodontics, Shanghai Ninth People's Hospital affiliated to Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine; College of Stomatology, Shanghai Jiao Tong University. He received his PhD degree in 2004 at the West China School of Stomatology, Sichuan University. Then he completed his Postdoctoral work at the Shanghai Ninth People's Hospital affiliated to Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine in 2006. From then on he worked in the Department of Prosthodontics, Shanghai Ninth People's Hospital affiliated to Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine. In 2010 he visited the School of Dentistry, University of North Carolina in the United States as a senior visiting scholar for 1 year. He has directed 13 research projects, including 4 grants from National Natural Science Foundation of China. His researches focus on the fundamental and applied research of Prosthodontics, the development of novel dental materials and the biomechanics. As first or corresponding author, he has 69 publications in peer-reviewed journals, among which 22 were SCI indexed and 1 were EI indexed. He has co-edited 9 books, including 2 national textbooks. He also has 2 national invention patents. He won the prestigious IADR Arthur R. Frechette New Investigator Award at the 84th Conference of International Association for Dental Research in Brisbane, Australia, 2006, as the first winner of this award from the People’s Republic of China. He has been supported by several talent programs including the Shanghai Rising-Star Program and the Shanghai Pujiang Program. Professor Xu has conducted invited speeches in many international and national conferences.
