They took their seats on the rostrum, sharing the great moment.
FAN Xianqun gave the last lesson to all the graduates by delivering a speech titled “altruistic doctors are great for absolute sincerity and excellence”. The SJTUSM graduates were encouraged to serve our country while making their dreams come true; and they were also encouraged to serve our people while bravely shouldering the mission of the times. In the sacred medical school, they have studied medicine systematically and in an all-round way, developed their practical abilities to explore and innovate, and enhanced their skills to protect lives. Hopefully they would stay true to the original aspiration of “serving our country and people”, implement the mission of “by choosing SJTU you choose responsibilities, and by choosing SJTUSM you choose dedication”, uphold their ideals firmly, and embark on their new journey towards their dreams.
Days will be increasingly peaceful as the young people work with great passion, and the world will be more beautiful as they are committed to it. FAN delivered his message to the graduates that as doctors, they need to be bravely dedicated and stay true to their original aspiration. Dedication implies respect and reverence for lives, care and warmth for souls, and responsibility and mission to communities. They need also to be willing to pursue excellence. As doctors, they also need to be willingly dedicated and pursue excellence. Dedication means learning from the wise and advancing without waiting, daring to be the pioneer and staying focused, being persistent with nothing more than one thought to protect the people. And as doctors, they need to be delightedly dedicated and strive to make their dreams come true, by adhering to the spirit of dedication, forging ahead with determination, and sustaining innovation in medical technology; by seeking truth, being pragmatic, and helping to build a Healthy China; and by working with a lofty aspiration, and writing a brilliant chapter in life.
Although it is far away, we will arrive as long as we keep going. Although it is difficult, we will succeed as long as we keep doing. From the Huangpu campus where our original aspiration was born to the Pudong campus where our new chapter was opened, and from the Hainan International Medical Center that serves the B&R initiative to the One Health Center Chongming Facility that implements the concept of one health, SJTUSM has got its grand blueprint in place, along with its ambitious goals to achieve. Let’s march on with unwavering determination, inexhaustible vigor, and tenacious perseverance.
The graduation ceremony came to an end amidst a medley of songs sung by the graduates. With the earnest teachings of teachers and close friendships of classmates, they are embarking on an all-new journey and heading towards the vast world, turning the earnest expectations of alma mater into a driving force for continuous progress in the future. It is reported that during the entire graduation season, SJTUSM carried out a series of activities such as Power of Role Models, launch of the graduation song Footprint, and the graduation party, all showcasing the irresistible charm of the medical graduates for 2024 and leaving them loads of unforgettable, beautiful memories. How time flied, they sighed. As the graduates were about to leave the school, they felt a strong sense of reluctance. Anyway, no matter how far they go, SJTUSM People will be the common name they share, and SJTU-SM will the sweet home to them, forever. Looking into the future, all the SJTU-SM graduates are expected to align their personal ideals with the health cause of our country and nation, and keep abreast of the times to make their lives shine.
