Resource & Service

Overview

This core is composed of two parts. The first one is a collection of mouse stains commonly used for research in microbiology and immunology, including a variety of Cre mice, fluorescently engineered mice, and gene knock-out mice. This core maintains these strains and, upon request, provides mice to the laboratories at our institute. The other part of this core is a micromanipulation system, consisting of a OLYMPAS microinjection scope, PN-31 needle puller, M-F900 microforge, and EG-400 micropipette grinder. This system can be used for various microinjections, for instance embryo microinjection and microinjection of macromolecules, such as DNAs, RNAs, proteins, hormones, fluorescent antibodies, and dyes, into a cell or the nucleus of a cell. Additionally, this core has a KARL STORZ endoscope that can be used for observing and recording the colon of live mice. Priority usage of this core is given to researchers at our institute; outside users are welcome as well.
