Date:2016-03-16

A few days ago, the Central Organization Department of Special Office for overseas talents introduction work issued 12th National "Overseas High-level Young Talents Program" list, Institute of Immunology PI Deng Liufu and Zou Qiang were competitive and successfully selected. Dr. Deng Liufu was introduced to the department as PI from abroad in 2015, got his Ph.D. degree from Institute of Biophysics, the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Then he worked as post-doctoral researcher in the Medicine School of University of Chicago and successfully promoted to Research Assistant Professor. Dr. Deng’s interest focuses on the novel mechanism of tumor immune responses in Radiotherapy, Chemotherapy and Immunotherapy; discovering novel targets of Immunotherapy and new strategies of combined treatment. In these years, Dr. Deng has done a great job in the area of tumor immunology and chemotherapy, published many international papers, which are cutting-edge, characteristic and valuable in clinical. Dr. Zou Qiang got Ph.D. in China Agricultural University in 2011, worked as a post-doctor in the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center from 2012 to 2016, then worked as PI in Shanghai Institute of Immunology, Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine. His interest focuses on researching the regulation mechanism of tumor immune and immunotherapy, has revealed the novel mechanism of USP15 regulating the antitumor and proapoptosis activity of T-cell, and demonstrated that USP15 is an important target of oncotherapy (Nature Immunology, 2014). He also illuminated the new mechanism of TRAF3IP3 in regulating T-cell development (J Exp Med., 2015), discovered immune escape mechanism mediated by the key immune protein factor of tumor, and explored the intervention strategies of immunotherapy in interfering tumor microenvironment (Cell Reports, 2015). Through the research, Dr. Zou presented a novel strategy to solve immune escaping and target missing, greatly improved the effect of tumor treatment by combining the targeted therapy and immunotherapy. Since 2012, Institute of Immunology has introduced 14 outstanding young scientific talents home and abroad, and five of them were selected as  National "Overseas High-level Young Talents Program", four were employed as Distinguished Professor of Shanghai University, seven were selected to Shanghai Pujiang Talent Plan, which has greatly promoted the establishment of scientific team, and which is vital for improving the scientific research strength of Institute of Immunology, promoting the development of subjects.
