Date:2016-05-13

The 6th SII club was successfully held in the multifunctional hall on the 11th floor on April 29th, 2016. With the theme of “Aiming for SCI on the Basis of Our Own Journal”, we have invited PI Lu Liming(the Deputy Editor-in-Chief of SII journal Current Immunology)and our new PI Yeap Lengsiew as our speakers who have respectively introduced Current Immunology, the journal organized by Shanghai Immunology Society and SII and some tips on submission to SCI journals.

Current Immunology (previously entitled Shanghai Journal of Immunology) was founded by immunologist Prof. Yu He in 1981. As the first journal nationally specialized in Immunology, it is bimonthly and managed by Shanghai Municipal Education Commission. Since its foundation, it has been attentively fostered by senior immunologists including Lu Deyuan, Chou Kuangyen, Lin Feiqing, Yao Xin, Ye Tianxing, etc. With the efforts of several generations, it became successively journal of Shanghai Immunology Society, journal of Chinese Society of Immunology and obtained the title of Shanghai Excellent Scientific Journal and so on. Prof. Lu Liming introduced in detail this journal including basic information, famous professors who have made great efforts, the collection situation of authoritative databases and the honors of this journal. In the whole statement, she added some interesting stories and made the audience know about the history, current state and the culture of the journal.

As one of the most important recognitions of scientific efforts, how to publish papers in SCI is the hotspot for researchers. With the experience of publishing papers on internationally top journals, the new PI Yeap Lengsiew coming from Boston Children’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School has shared her tips on publishing SCI papers. Beginning with the experience of J.K.Rowling, who has been rejected for twelve times for Harry Potter, combined with her own experience, Yeap Lengsiew shared her opinions on journal selection, citation of other researchers’ outcomes, catching editors’ eye on one’s outcomes and encouraged students to bravely move forward.

In the future, the club will fix on the topics SII teachers and students concerned about, keep the specific academic atmosphere and offer a communicating platform for SII members.
