Yaqian Xu, Ph.D.

Dr. Xu is an assistant professor in the School of Global Health at Shanghai Jiao Tong University in China. Her academic journey includes earning bachelor's and Ph.D. degrees from Shanghai Ocean University and Tongji University, respectively. She pursued postdoctoral research at the Research Center for Eco-Environmental Sciences, Chinese Academy of Sciences (RCEES, CAS) and the Hangzhou Institute for Advanced Study, University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS). Additionally, she was a visiting Ph.D. at the University of Copenhagen in Denmark. With over 35 peer-reviewed scientific articles in international journals such as Eco-Environment Health, Environmental Science & Technology and Environmental Research, her work has garnered over 280 citations and an H-index of 14. She has served as a member in multiple organizations, including the Intelligent Medical Testing Branch of China Association for Testing and Analysis, the Chinese Chemical Society, and the Chinese Society of Toxicology. Presently, she is involved in research initiatives such as the Strategic Priority Research Program of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

Research Interests and Expertise

Dr. Xu's research aims to evaluate the environmental health risks posed by pollutants to humans. It uses interdisciplinary research methods such as environmental chemistry and epidemiology to explore the links between pollutants and adverse health outcomes, with a particular focus on pollutants exhibiting the hormesis phenomenon. The goal is to provide scientific evidence to support pollutant regulation and promote sustainable population development.
