Two AirFace robots developed by Shanghai Jiao Tong University's School of Medicine have been donated to medical teams dispatched from Shanghai to Wuhan, the heart of the epidemic.
They now serve at the intensive care unit of Wuhan Third Hospital.
The robots, developed by a team led by Wu Tao, can recognize faces and will play an important role in isolation wards.
They can also help in long-distance group consultations and diagnosis, allowing doctors to more closely observe patients.
Such robots have been used at Shanghai’s Ruijin Hospital and Shanghai Children’s Medical Center to support coronavirus diagnosis and treatment.
