Introduction of the Institute:

To strategically align with both national and local priorities, the Songjiang Research Institute of the Shanghai Jiaotong University School of Medicine (hereafter "Research Institute") was officially inaugurated in July 2022. This institution is a collaborative effort between the Shanghai Songjiang District People's Government and the Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine.

The institute, aligned with the national brain science plan, draws upon the premium resources of the G60 Science and Innovation Corridor's biomedical and brain science innovation cluster. By tapping into Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine's strengths in brain cognitive analysis and brain disease research, the institute aligns with the national brain science strategy and the goals set out in the 14th Five-Year Plan of Jiao Tong University's School of Medicine regarding key developments in brain science. This enables a comprehensive fusion and forward-thinking strategy in pivotal sectors such as biomedicine and artificial intelligence.

Emphasizing research on the "three brains" (mental, degenerative, and developmental), the institute also delves into emerging interdisciplinary fields of brain science including neuroimmunity, neurometabolism, and neurotumors. Our goal is to establish a holistic "basic-clinical-industrial" research platform that spans brain science and its interdisciplinary connections. We are steadfast in our commitment to producing groundbreaking, innovative, and transformative basic research findings.

Our mission is to achieve significant advancements in innovative key technologies, foster a cadre of brain science professionals recognized for their innovative thinking and global impact, and support Shanghai's biomedicine and artificial intelligence sectors. By doing so, we aim to bolster the creation of a globally influential "Healthy Shanghai" and the G60 Science and Technology Innovation Center. Ultimately, our vision is to be recognized as a hub for brain science research and development in China and a pillar for national science and technology innovation.

To foster collaborative growth and innovation, the Institute is actively seeking to recruit top-tier talent both domestically and internationally. Please find the detailed announcement below:
