An alliance for medical education of Yangtze River Delta region was established on Saturday.

Ten universities joined the alliance for resource sharing, interdisciplinary cooperation and training.

Dr Chen Guoqiang, director of Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine and chairman of the alliance, said the alliance will explore training in line with rising demand in clinical practice and services.

“The alliance will enjoy a uniform quality assurance system and share resources, reform policies and mechanisms to build a better regional medical education network,” he said.

The alliance will also study the integration of Western medicine and traditional Chinese medicine.
