In 2023, as part of a joint summer research program coordinated by the Academic Affairs and International Affairs offices of Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, the School of Nursing sent a student to McMaster University for a two-week course on medicine and digital healthcare.This program allows students to gain specialized knowledge in the field of digital healthcare and facilitates cultural exchange between faculty and students from both countries.

King's College London, UK

University of Oxford, UK

In 2023, as part of a joint summer research program coordinated bythe Academic Affairs and International Affairs offices of Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine,the School of Nursing sent a student to the University of Oxford for one to two weeks of basic medical courses. This program not only promotes the exchange of basic medical education between the two nations, but also providesstudents with enriching cultural interactions and a broadened global perspective.

University of Cambridge, UK

Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Nursinghas collaborated with the University of Cambridge to jointly develop an online research training program for nursing students. Spanning 20 instructional hours over five weeks, the program comprises academic lectures, group discussions, and oral presentations, with full support from the Cambridge University Shanghai Centre. By integrating advanced global higher education philosophies and best practices, and by leveraging world-class educational resources, the programoffers a platform for scholars and students to engage with faculty and peers from top-tier institutions.

National University of Singapore, Singapore

In 2023,Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Nursingsigned an agreement with theAlice Lee Centre for Nursing Studies atYong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore, to establish a China-Singapore nursing exchange program.Each year, both institutions exchange students fora two-week theoreticalstudy or short-term nursing observershipat each other’s school or affiliated medical centers.The program effectively fosters the exchange of medical and nursing culture, techniques, and expertise between the two nations.

Shanghai Jiao Tong UniversitySchool of Nursing and HKU School of Nursing have long engaged in academic and clinical practice exchange efforts. Each year,both institutions exchangetwo to four master's or undergraduate nursing students for theoretical and practical learning at each other’s school or affiliated medical centers.This program offers nursing students from both regions a platform for exchanging nursing culture, knowledge, and skills, broadening their professional horizons.

Nagoya University, Japan

In 2011, Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine and Nagoya University established a student exchange agreement. Each year, both institutions exchange two nursing students for clinical observership and visits. In addition, Nagoya University's School of Medicine offers positionseach yearfor SJTU nursing students to pursue doctoral studies. These students can further avail the opportunity by applying for CSCScholarships.

Linköpings universitet, Sweden

In 2009, Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine andLinköpings universitetestablished a student exchange agreement. Each year, both institutions exchange two nursing students for clinical observershipat each other’s school or affiliated medical centers for two to three months. Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine andUniversité de Lyon signed an agreement in 2013 to launch a Sino-French nursing exchange program. Bothinstitutions exchangenursingstudentsand nurses at affiliated medical centers for clinical observership spanning one to two months. This program effectively facilitates the exchange of medical and nursing culture, techniques, and expertise between the two countries.

The University of Western Australia, Australia

In 2016, Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Nursing and the University of Western Australia launched a 3.5+2 combined bachelor's and master's program, which allows students to study at both institutions and benefit from mutual credit recognition. After completing 3.5 years of undergraduate nursing education in China, students are eligible to enroll in a 2-year master's program at the University of Western Australia School of Public Health. Students of this program graduate with both a Bachelor of Nursing and a Master of Public Health.

The University of Newcastle, Australia

In 2017, the Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Nursing partnered with the University of Newcastle to launch a Sino-Australian dual bachelor's degree program with a 1.5+2+0.5 structure.Thiscolloborationallows students to study at both institutions, with mutual credit recognition in place, and enables graduates to obtain bachelor's degrees from both universities. As an accelerated program, it shortens the duration of education at both ends and offers students an opportunity to gain insightsinto the distinct healthcare systems and nursing expertise of both countries.
