Course Description: "Oral and Maxillofacial Oncology" is an important part of the integrated curriculum system of Stomatologic medicine. It is the main supporting discipline of basic medicine and clinical medicine of stomatology. It is a compulsory course for undergraduates majoring in stomatology, with 58 class hours. Oral and maxillofacial oncology is a relatively common diseases found in the head and neck region. The treatment of such diseases rest mostly on surgery. Because of the site specificity, the treatment of such diseases will influence the patients’ quality of life, which means such treatment also entails complicated microscopic reconstructive approaches to resolve these problems. Oral and maxillofacial oncology is one of the major discipline with critical importance and rapid advances in both basic theories and clinical practice. Through the study of this course, students can systematically and comprehensively master the basic knowledge of the epidemiology, etiology, clinical radiological, pathological diagnoses and multidisciplinary treatment modalities, and at the same time, cultivate students' basic clinical techniques and thinking for the oral and maxillofacial oncology. The basic techniques were enhanced via practice and clinical examinations. We also pay much attention to the standardized treatment, diagnosis, theoretical application of clinical techniques in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of clinical diseases, so as to lay a solid foundation for students to learn relevant courses, for the sake of future clinical internship and practice.

Dental Public Health

Course Description: Dental Public Health is a discipline that investigates the rules of oral diseases among the populations. It also provides the preventive strategies and maintains the oral health of individuals and populations. Students will also enhance the ability of oral health education and establish a new concept of oral disease prevention. Course Description: " Cariology and Endodontics " is an important part of the integrated curriculum system of oral medicine. It is a compulsory course for undergraduates majoring in oral medicine, with 130 class hours and 7.5 credits. This course covers the cariology, non-caries diseases and Endodontics. Concluding the pathogeny, clinical pathology, clinical symptom, diagnosis, treatment and prevention of these diseases. This course integrates the teaching contents including Oral Biology, Preventive Dentistry, Imaging Diagnosis of Oral and Maxillofacial diseases, Oral Clinical Pharmacology and Oral Histopathology. This course focuses on the pathogeny, diagnosis, treatment of the common diseases and frequently occurring diseases of Cariology and Endodontics. 

Through the study of this course, students can systematically and comprehensively master the basic theoretical knowledge of Cariology and Endodontics, and at the same time, cultivate students' basic literacy related to the course, pay attention to the theoretical application of Cariology and Endodontics in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of clinical diseases, so as to lay a solid foundation for students to learn relevant courses, enter clinical study and practice.

Course Description: Periodontal disease is the most common disease that damages periodontal supporting tissues, which could decrease the masticatory function. The integrity of masticatory organs may be destroyed. Periodontology is a clinical subject which aims to treat periodontal disease, including basic theories and clinical knowledge for treatment of periodontal disease. At the same time, periodontology is a professional course with high requirement of operation skills. Thus, theory and practice must be combined in the teaching process of periodontology.The emphasis should be put on both theoretical learning and operation skills based on clinical practice.
