Introduction of the faculty director

  • ZHANG Ying, Ph.D., RN

Dr. Zhang is currently the director of Clinical Nursing Faculty in Shanghai Jiaotong University School of Nursing. She earned her Ph.D. degree from Peking Union Medical College-Tsinghua University School of Medicine in 2009. She also received training in the joint program between Peking Union Medical College and Johns Hopkins University. She conducted three consecutive fellowships in family and pediatrics at UNC School of Nursing from 2011 to 2015. 

Dr. Zhang’s research focuses on chronic disease care for children/adolescents, preterm infant care, and cardiac rehabilitation. She was funded by 9 provincial and ministerial foundations and published nearly 50 academic papers as the first or corresponding author. She has undertaken the teaching of “Pediatric Nursing and Community Nursing” for undergraduates and “Nursing Theory Development and Application” for postgraduates. She co-edited 12 textbooks and monographs, including Pediatric Nursing (Bilingual, 2nd edition), and Community Nursing. 

Dr. Zhang also works as the chief of the Nursing Basic Teaching Team, the member of the Public Health and Nursing Research Ethics Committee, the subject leader of the Nursing Discipline Talent Building Project, the member of the 2nd Academic Committee of the School of Nursing, and the deputy director of Nursing Innovation Development Institute of China Hospital Development Institute. 

In recent years, Dr. Zhang has been awarded the Shanghai Yucai Award, the nomination award of Shanghai Jiaotong University for "Teaching and Educating People", Shanghai Teaching Achievement Award (ranked 2nd), etc. 


Introduction of Clinical Nursing Faculty

The Clinical Nursing Faculty was formerly named the Department of Comprehensive Nursing in 2005, and officially renamed  the Clinical Nursing Faculty in 2021. There are 10 full-time faculty members, including one senior member, three associate members, four intermediate members, one administrative staff and one laboratory technician in this faculty. At present, the faculty is responsible for postgraduates, undergraduates and adult education, online teaching and other compulsory and elective courses, theory and practice bridging courses, and tutoring for the professional examination for registered nurses. The courses included Adult Nursing, Pediatric Nursing, Emergency Nursing, Psychiatric Nursing, Community Nursing, Geriatric Nursing, Chinese Medicine Nursing, Nurse-Patient Communication, and Nursing Theory Development and Application and Advanced Nursing Practice. 

The faculty members have edited, co-edited and participated in more than 40 national planning textbooks, undergraduate textbooks, and monographs. In recent years, they have undertaken more than 20 projects with a total funding of about 2,000,000 RMB, including the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, National Social Science Fund of China, Shanghai Natural Science Fund, Shanghai Philosophy and Social Science Fund, and the Shanghai Municipal Health Commission. In the past five years, they have published more than 150 papers in high-impact journals, including nearly 40 SCI papers (two papers: IF>5). They have received the second prize of the Chinese Nursing Science and Technology Award, the first and third prizes of the Shanghai Nursing Science and Technology Award, the Shanghai Teaching Achievement Award (2013 and 2017). They also got the honor of the discipline leader of health emergency management of Shanghai Health Care Commission, the Shanghai Top-Ten Outstanding Young People Award, the Shanghai Pujiang Talent Program, and the Shanghai Yucai Award.
