On October 29th, “Forum on High-quality Development of Stomatology and the Academic Event for the 90th Anniversary of the College of Stomatology, Shanghai Jiao Tong University” were held successfully.
The forum received the special guests including Shi Sizhen, Former Member of the Standing Committee of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference and Former Vice Chairman of the Shanghai Municipal Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, Yang Zhenbin, Secretary of the Party Committee of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Mao Lijuan, Deputy Director of Shanghai Municipal Education Commission, Fan Xianqun, Vice President of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Dean of Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Sun Dalin, Former Secretary of the Party Committee of Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, Chen Zhixing, Former Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and Director of Shanghai Intellectual Property Administration and Vice President of Shanghai Second Medical University, Dai Kerong, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Zhang Zhiyuan, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Shen Hongbing, Director General of the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Wang Songling, Vice President of the Capital Medical University and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Zhao Yimin, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering. The representatives of domestic colleges and universities and people from all walks of life also attended the forum online and offline. The opening ceremony was hosted by Xu Yuanjin, Secretary of the Party Committee of the College of Stomatology.

Guo Lian, Secretary of the CPC Committee of Shanghai Ninth People’s Hospital, Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine and Dean of the College of Stomatology SJTU, addressed the forum.
The presidents’ representatives of sister universities at home and abroad also conveyed congratulations to the College of Stomatology.
Academician Qiu Weiliu of the Chinese Academy of Engineering made a special speech to all the faculty members and students, and wrote an inscription for the 90th anniversary of the College of Stomatology.

The “Academicians Forum” was then opened, six academic giants, including Academician Dai Kerong, Academician Zhang Zhiyuan, Academician Fan Xianqun, Academician Shen Hongbing, Academician Zhao Yimin of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and Academician Wang Songling of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, delivered special reports at the Academicians Forum to discuss the most up-to-date academic achievements and the latest development trends in the medical field.
On the afternoon of October 29th, two sub-forums “Humanities Forum of Medical Colleges and Universities” and “Alumni Forum” were held. Zhou Xuedong, Academic President of the West China School/Hospital of Stomatology Sichuan University, Zhou Zengtong, the Tenured Professor of Shanghai Ninth People’s Hospital, Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, Liu Yuehua, Dean of School of Stomatology, Fudan University and Shang Zhengjun, Dean of School of Stomatology, Wuhan University carried out an in-depth discussion on the theories and practices of humanities education in Stomatology, promoting the innovative development of medical education. Guo Chuanbin, Dean of Peking University School of Stomatology, Wang Zuolin, Dean of School of Stomatology Tongji University, Wu Zhengyi, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Committee and Vice Dean of Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, and Professor Zhou Laisheng from Boston University shared their touching stories of growing with the college on behalf of famous alumni.
On the evening of October 29th, the 90th anniversary party of Shanghai Jiao Tong University College of Stomatology was held. Teachers and students performed on stage together to honor SJTU’s perseverance in pursuing dreams for 90 years.
The college will continue to adhere to the leadership of party building, take the established moral values as the foundation, take disciplinary development as the starting point, and take reform and innovation as the driving force to actively build a first-class college of stomatology with distinctive discipline characteristics and global reach, and facilitate the construction of Shanghai’s global science and technology innovation center!
