Lab Leader:Gelin Wang

Lab Name:Laboratory of Aging Biology and Intervention

Lab Info:Gelin Wang’s laboratory focuses on elucidating the molecular mechanisms underlying aging and cell death, as well as developing pharmacological strategies to target these processes in diseases such as neurodegeneration, cancer, and metabolic disorders. The lab has pioneered work demonstrating how aging and stress responses are regulated through NAD metabolism, providing key insights into the systemic metabolic control of cellular homeostasis. In parallel, the group has identified novel small molecules that induce cancer cell death through distinct pathways, advancing both mechanistic understanding and therapeutic potential. The lab has published extensively in leading journals, includingCell,Molecular Cell,Cell Research,Nature Chemical Biology,Angewandte Chemie International Edition,Nature Communications,Genes & Development,PNAS, andNature. In addition, the group holds multiple patents, several of which are advancing toward translation. Current research directions include: (1) defining the systemic regulation of NAD metabolism in aging and stress; (2) dissecting the molecular mechanisms of aging and cell death; and (3) discovering and developing small molecules that modulate aging pathways, identify drug targets, and enable novel therapeutic strategies.
