SANS Institute for Neuroscience and Vision Research (SINVR)

CA9D

Co-established by Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine (SJTUSM) and Shanghai Academy of Natural Sciences (SANS), and in deep collaboration with the State Key Laboratory of Vision Health, the institute undertakes the vital mission of integrating visual science research capabilities in Shanghai. It aims to build an innovation network that connects basic research, translational research and clinical application, and develop a strategic highland in the global field of visual science.

Bringing together outstanding scientists from top domestic and overseas research institutions, SINVR focuses on two core directions in neurovisual science: visual formation and visual remodeling. Its research scope covers cutting-edge fields including retinal development, eye-brain circuits, myopia mechanisms, visual degenerative diseases, neural regeneration and brain-computer interfaces.

With the development feature of "small yet sophisticated, and strongly interdisciplinary", SINVR leverages the joint platform with the State Key Laboratory of Vision Health to achieve high-level complementarity in technology and resources. Adhering to SANS' philosophy of "research without walls" and the open cooperation mechanism, the institute facilitates the free flow of talents and academic exchanges at home and abroad, drives original breakthroughs, and is committed to building a national comprehensive visual science center, propelling Shanghai to the forefront of global neurovisual science and technology innovation.
