上海市第六人民医院始建于1904年，2002年成为上海交通大学附属医院，是一所三级甲等大型综合性教学医院。医院核定床位1766张，实际开放床位1956张，临床医技科室44个。医院2019年门急诊量428.30万人次，出院病人12.08万人，各类手术13.44万人次。医院现有中国科学院院士1名、中国工程院院士1名、国家973首席科学家1名、国家卫健委突出贡献中青年专家5名、国家自然基金委杰出青年基金项目获得者2名、中组部青年拔尖人才支持计划入选者1名、教育部新世纪优秀人才培养计划入选者2名、人社部百千万人才工程入选者4名、国家自然基金委优秀青年基金项目获得者3名。
1958年，周永昌教授等在这里开创了超声医学事业，医院被誉为“中国超声诊断发源地”。1963年，陈中伟教授、钱允庆教授等首创了国际医学史上第一例断肢再植手术，医院被誉为我国断肢再植的摇篮。1978年，于仲嘉教授等研究成功“手或全手指缺失的再造技术”，被世界誉为“中国手”，荣获国家发明一等奖。1980年，陈中伟教授因在骨科断肢再植领域的卓越贡献当选为中国科学院院士。2003年，项坤三教授因在糖尿病领域的卓越贡献当选为中国工程院院士。

1. Brief Introduction to the Hospital
Shanghai 6th People’s Hospital, also named as the 6th People’s Hospital affiliated to Shanghai Jiao Tong University, is one of the greatest tertiary and comprehensive teaching hospital in Shanghai. Till the end of 2019, the Hospital has 1956 beds and 44 clinical and technical departments. The total number of ambulatory and emergent visits reached 4.283 million in 2019. The Hospital also accepted120.8 thousand discharged inpatients and performed134.4 thousand surgeries in the same year,The Hospital has many distinguished experts: one Member of Chinese Academy of Engineering, four in National “1000 Talents” Project, one Leading Scientist of National 973 Project, four “Expert with Outstanding Contributions” by the MOH,two National Distinguished Young Scientist Foundation,one Top Young Talent Supported by the Organization Ministry of CPCCC, two in ministry of education in the new century excellent talent training plan, four in Millions of Talent Projects, three National Natural Science Foundation--Outstanding Youth Foundation.
Together with Shanghai Jiao Tong University, the Hospital set up one Clinical School,which is an authorized Postdoctoral training base with104 doctoral supervisors and 164 master supervisors. 2．Famous Brands
In 1958, Professor Zhou Yongchang and his colleagues started to apply ultrasound to clinical diagnosis and founded the discipline of Ultrasound Medicine in China. The Hospital is widely recognized as the “Origin of Ultrasound Diagnosis in China”.
In 1963, Professor Chen Zhongwei, Professor Qian Yunqing and other colleagues successfully accomplished the first replantation of amputated limbs in the international medical history. Prime Minister Zhou Enlai and vice Prime Minister Chen Yi granted a cordial interview to the team. The Hospital is recognized as the cradle of the replantation of amputated limbs in China.
In 1978, Professor Yu Zhongjia successfully accomplished the “Reconstruction Technique of Hand and Finger Defect”, which was the first case to transplant one’s own toe to remainedforelimbs and reconstruct sensible and functional new hand, also known as “Chinese Hand” in international medical society. This technique won the 1st Prize of National Invention Award.
Professor Xiang Kunsan has long been devoted to positional cloning study of the first MODY gene (MODY1) and has first detected mitochondrial mutation diabetes in Chinese population. He was elected as the member of Chinese Academy of Engineering.
