Professor Qian Wang's team from the School of Public Health won the first prize in the 2022-2023 Sustainable Development Goals - Global Citizenship Education Project Social Innovation Project Competition

In the 2022-2023 Sustainable Development Goal - Global Citizenship Education Program Social Innovation Project competition organized by the Alliance of Pacific Rim Universities, the Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine team won the first prize from eight teams from different countries after fierce competition.

The team was led by Professor Wang Qian from the School of Public Health of Shanghai Jiao Tong University and was composed of students from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Fudan University, the University of Hong Kong, the University of Sydney, the University of the Philippines and other schools. The winning team was recommended by the International Exchange Office of Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, which is also the first time that Shanghai Jiao Tong University has won the first place in the project after joining the Alliance of Pacific Rim Universities.

The Social Innovation Project Competition was judged by experts from the Office of the United Nations Resident Coordinator in Thailand, the United Nations Economic and Social Council for Asia and the Pacific, and the United Nations Development Programme Thailand. The team led by Ms. Wang Qian completed a project on mental health of adolescents for half a year, and designed a functional APP (" You-Aid ") through evidence-based methods to provide a mutual assistance and inclusive interactive community for adolescents who need psychological assistance or counseling but are too shy to seek professional help.

The Pacific Rim University Alliance is a university alliance composed of top research universities in the Pacific Rim region, which was jointly initiated by the California Institute of Technology, the University of California at Berkeley, the University of California at Los Angeles and the University of Southern California in 1997, with the purpose of establishing a platform for exchanges and common development for member universities. The alliance currently comprises 60 universities, including more than a dozen of China's top research universities, including Shanghai Jiao Tong University.
