Wenze Zhong

Professor, Doctoral Supervisor, Associate Dean of the School of Public Health at Shanghai Jiao Tong University and the Head of the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics. He holds a position as a Visiting Professor in the Department of Nutritional Sciences at Cornell University.

BIO

  • He completed his undergraduate studies at the School of Public Health, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, and earned his Ph.D. from the Department of Nutrition at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in the United States. He also underwent postdoctoral training in the Department of Preventive Medicine at the Feinberg School of Medicine, Northwestern University in the United States.

  • He previously served as the President of the Nutritional Epidemiology Division of the American Society for Nutrition (2021-2023). He has been honored with numerous talent programs and accolades, including the National High-Level Young Talent, the Shanghai Science and Technology Young 35 Leaders Program, the Shuguang Scholar award, the Predoctoral Fellowship Award from the American Society for Nutrition, the Roger R. Williams Award from the American Heart Association, and the Lifestyle and Cardiometabolic Health Early Career Investigator Award, among others. With support from projects such as the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the National Key Research and Development Program, he has conducted research in nutritional, obesity, and diabetes epidemiology. As the first author or corresponding author (including co-authors), he has published original research papers in prestigious journals such as JAMA (2 papers), JAMA Internal Medicine, Annals of Internal Medicine, and Diabetes Care. He has served as a reviewer and arbitrator for over 110 times for journals including JAMA, BMJ, Lancet sub-journals, Annals of Internal Medicine, Cell Metabolism, Circulation, Diabetes Care, and the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition (AJCN).
