Songjiang Hospital

Founded in June 1949, Songjiang Hospital Affiliated to Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine is a tertiary level-II comprehensive and teaching hospital in Shanghai. The hospital has 29 clinical departments and 6 medical technical departments, including 3 key medical specialties of Shanghai, 1 key clinical pharmacy specialty of Shanghai, and 8 key medical disciplines of Songjiang District. As Shanghai Standardized Training Base for General Practitioner Residents, Songjiang Hospital is accredited as a National Drug Clinical Trial Institution and has been approved to establish one Shanghai Regional Tuberculosis Laboratory. In July 2022, Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine Songjiang Research Institute was established, assembled a high-level brain science team led by Academician Duan Shumin. In July 2023, School of Cell and Gene Therapy led by Professor Zheng Songguo was established to facilitate the high-quality development of Songjiang hospital.With 1,405 on-the-job staff, the hospital has a construction area of 96,000 square meters and 1,035 approved beds. It receives approximately 1.9 million outpatient and emergency visits annually, accounting for 20% of the whole district; about 40,000 discharges, accounting for 30% of the district; and 32,000 surgeries, accounting for 51% of the district. Its CM index, inpatient disease index cost unit price, and diagnostic fee index unit price rank among the top in 32 similar hospitals at the same level in the city. The proportion of grade III and IV surgeries has been increasing year by year, reaching 64%, and the grade IV surgery rate has reached 16.6%. As a regional medical center in Songjiang, it serves 6 subdistricts and 11 towns in Songjiang District, covering a population of more than 2 million. It took the lead in operating a regional imaging diagnosis center, regional clinical laboratory center, and regional pathology diagnosis center in the city, covering 18 community health service centers and 6 secondary hospitals in the whole district. It has established five cardiovascular and cerebrovascular centers at the national level, including a chest pain center, heart failure center, atrial fibrillation center, cardiac rehabilitation center, and stroke center.
