Songjiang Hospital

Songjiang Hospital Affiliated to Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine (Shanghai Songjiang District Central Hospital), founded in June 1949, is a Grade 3B comprehensive hospital in Shanghai. The hospital has 26 clinical departments, 6 medical technology departments, and 20 administrative functional departments. It features 3 Shanghai Municipal Key Medical Disciplines, 1 Shanghai Municipal Key Clinical Pharmacy Specialty, and 8 Songjiang District Key Medical Disciplines. It serves as a Shanghai Standardized Training Base for General Practice Residents, has been granted National Drug Clinical Trial Institution qualification, and houses 1 Shanghai Regional Tuberculosis Laboratory. The hospital currently has a construction area of 96,000 square meters and 1,035 approved beds. In July 2022, the Songjiang Research Institute of Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine was established, featuring a high-level neuroscience team led by Academician Duan Shumin and a cell and gene therapy research team led by Professor Zheng Songguo. In 2025, the hospital recorded 1.653 million outpatient and emergency visits, 56,000 inpatient discharges, and 45,000 surgeries and procedures.

In recent years, the hospital has achieved significant results in public hospital reform. In 2020, it became one of the first 22 regional medical center construction units in Shanghai, and in 2022, it was named one of the first batch of district-affiliated "Public Hospital High-Quality Development Pilot Units" in Shanghai. As the regional medical center of Songjiang, its service scope covers 6 subdistricts and 11 towns in Songjiang District, serving a population of over 2 million. The hospital was the first in the city to operate a Regional Imaging Diagnosis Center, Regional Clinical Laboratory Center, and Regional Pathology Diagnosis Center, covering all 18 community health service centers and 6 secondary hospitals in the district. It has established five national-level cardiovascular and cerebrovascular centers, including the Chest Pain Center, Heart Failure Center, Atrial Fibrillation Center, Cardiac Rehabilitation Center, and Stroke Center. The hospital further promotes hospital-community collaborative projects such as peritoneal dialysis adapted technology in communities, a COPD graded diagnosis and treatment platform, a three-tier rehabilitation medical service system, and a regional rational drug use technology center. These initiatives have won the First and Second "Shanghai Top 10 Innovative Medical Reform Measures" and the Second Batch of Shanghai Innovative Medical Service Brands. In 2018, Songjiang District was commended by the General Office of the State Council as a "National Model Region for Effective and Tangible Public Hospital Reform," marking new progress in graded diagnosis and treatment reform.

The hospital has consecutively won the title of Shanghai Civilized Unit for twelve terms and has received honors such as Shanghai Advanced Primary Party Organization, Shanghai Health Promotion Hospital, Shanghai March 8th Red Banner Collective, and Shanghai Advanced Volunteer Service Model.
