Shanghai Children's Medical Center (SCMC), affiliated to Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine (hereinafter referred to as "the Center"), is a Grade-A tertiary children's hospital integrating medical care, scientific research and teaching. It was jointly established by the Shanghai Municipal Government and the World Health Foundation in the 1990s and officially opened in 1998. In 2017, it was approved as the National Children's Medical Center.The Center is a key construction unit of the "211 Project" and the "985 Project", with two campuses in Lujiazui and Zhangjiang, totaling 1,500 beds. It has 12 national key disciplines and clinical key specialties, has won the Shanghai Municipal Government Quality Gold Award, and has been selected as a pilot unit for high-quality development of public hospitals in Shanghai. The hospital has successively taken over four national children's regional medical centers in Fujian, Hainan, Guizhou and Linyi, effectively promoting the downward flow of high-quality medical resources, and continuously promoting the construction of the National Children's Medical Center Specialized Alliance and the Shanghai Eastern Pediatric Medical Consortium.The Center's multi-disciplinary joint diagnosis and treatment platform and children's clinical research platform enjoy a high reputation both at home and abroad, especially in the fields of pediatric cardiology, pediatric hematology and oncology, developmental and behavioral pediatrics, pediatric critical care and rare diseases, playing a leading role in these disciplines. It has built a full-chain translational medicine platform from basic research to clinical application, focusing on three major directions: "pediatric rare and difficult diseases", "pediatric health management" and "innovative pediatric drugs, devices and therapies". In recent years, it has successively established the National Health Commission Key Laboratory of Pediatric Hematology and Oncology, Shanghai Clinical Research Center for Pediatric Rare Diseases, Shanghai Key Laboratory of Pediatric Clinical Molecular Diagnosis, and Shanghai Key Laboratory of Pediatric Brain and Intelligence Development, among other cutting-edge research bases.Under the brand of "Jiao Tong Pediatrics", the Center has been approved as a key training base for standardized resident physicians and has established a pediatric clinical training center featuring virtual simulation and simulation teaching.
