Xin Hua Hospital

Founded in 1958, Xinhua Hospital is a teaching hospital affiliated to Shanghai Jiaotong University School of Medicine.  It is the first general hospital designed and established by Shanghai people themselves after the founding of New China.  With more than 60 year’s efforts of all Xin Hua staff to make it prosperous, the hospital has become a modern comprehensive institution with a complete installation of disciplines, special features and integrated with medical treatment, education and scientific researches.

The hospital has an area of more than 7.27 hectares with a building acreage of 192,000 square meters. The hospital has a complete installation of disciplines with 4000 staff, over 2490 medical beds, 60 clinical departments and 10 medical technology departments, including: General Surgery, Cardiovascular Surgery, Pediatric Surgery, Emergency Medicine, Otorhinolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery, Dermatology, Pediatric Respiratory Pediatrics, Traditional Chinese Medicine, Clinical Pharmacy. The hospital will also build a new area in Fengxian District Nanqiao New Town.

With strong medical strengths and distinctive characteristics, the hospital boasts 10 national key clinical specialties, Children’s Stone Diagnostic and Treatment of National Health and Family Planning Commission, Shanghai Clinical Center for Pediatric Surgery, Shanghai Critical Maternal and Newborn Consulting and Rescue Center, Shanghai Prenatal Diagnosis Center, Shanghai Diagnosis and Treatment Center for Hearing Disorders，and eight Shanghai Jiao Tong University Diagnosis and Treatment Centers for Special Diseases. The hospital has a total of 12 National/Shanghai key specialties and research bases.

Hospital established clinical research center is the first company in Shanghai based on the hospital clinical study systematic innovation platform supported by institutions, and the depth of cooperation at harvard medical school of medicine at the university of Ottawa, Canada and the United States, to follow the internationalization level of scientific and ethical standards, and has set up a collaboration for the clinical research network, improving the quality of clinical research projects, and provide clinical medicine research results into standardized way, always with "sharing, win-win and common development" for the idea guidance, form provide grid layout, international academic exchanges with international vision booster hospital medicine, teaching and research development in an all-round way.
