I. Dormitory Allocation

  1. International students enrolled at Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine who hold a valid passport may apply for on-campus accommodation through International Students Office.

  2. Upon check-in, students must sign the "Agreement on Accommodation for International Students at Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine ". Within 24 hours of moving into the dormitory, students must complete Residence Registration.

  3. Accommodation for international students is coordinated by the International Students Office. In cases of major adjustments such as dormitory renovations or room reallocations, students are required to follow the Office’s arrangements. If a bed in a shared room becomes vacant, the Office may assign another student to share the room. If the resident chooses not to accept a new roommate, which will be considered a voluntary termination of accommodation agreement, then the resident will be required to vacate the dormitory.

  4. Accommodation fees are paid semiannually (1st of January to 30th of June, 1st of July to 31st of December, including winter and summer breaks as well as public holidays), as per the regulations of School’s Financial Department.

II. Accommodation Regulations and Guidelines

  1. Room changes or bed transfer are not permitted. Shower facilities in the dormitory are reserved exclusively for international students of this School.

  2. Each student will be provided with one room key. Keys must be kept and used properly. Do not change the door lock or have duplicate keys made privately, nor lend the key to others. All keys must be returned upon moving out. Lost keys will incur a replacement fee at cost. To borrow a room key, students must present their own student ID card, and may only borrow the key for their own room.

  3. Please take good care of all shared facilities, furniture and appliances. Do not move indoor furniture into corridors or other areas. Any damage or loss of room items must be compensated at cost.

  4. Maintain cleanliness in and around your room. Do not drill holes, draw on or post materials on the walls. Throwing objects out of windows is strictly prohibited. Personal items (e.g. furniture, shoes, brooms) must not be stored in corridors or public areas; anything left in public areas will be disposed of as garbage.

  5. After using public areas like kitchens, classrooms, restrooms or showers, please clean up any waste you generate.

  6. Poultry, pets and other unhygienic items are not allowed in the dormitory. Keeping poultry or pets in the room is strictly prohibited.

  7. Maintain quiet within the dormitory building. Do not play ball games, dance, make loud noises, play loud music, or engage in other activities that disturb others' living or study in the hallways.

  8. The following are strictly forbidden within the dormitory: illegal activities such as fighting, gambling, drug use, or solicitation; excessive drinking, loud noise or high-volume audio; bringing in flammable, explosive, toxic, or radioactive materials; burning items, discarding cigarette butts, or setting off fireworks indoors.

  9. Do not install telephones or tamper with electrical wiring. The use of high-power appliances such as electric blankets, microwave ovens, rice cookers, electric stoves and woks is prohibited. Do not leave appliances like air conditioners and irons unattended while in use, and always turn them off before leaving the room. Firefighting equipment must not be moved without authorization.

  10. In case of fire, electrical hazards, or emergencies, report immediately to our Office or the dormitory security desk.

  11. While sharing a room, roommates should show mutual care and respect each other’s lifestyle.

  12. Students must actively support and cooperate with regular inspections of dormitory hygiene and safety conducted by the Center.

  13. Please safeguard your certifications, luggage and valuables. Avoid storing large amounts of cash in the dormitory. For safety, do not lend your room key to others. Always lock the door, close windows and switch off electrical appliances before leaving.

  14. Bicycles and electric bicycles must be registered and parked according to the regulations of the Campus Security Office. Parking bicycles or electric bicycles inside the dormitory building or individual rooms or bringing electric bicycle batteries indoors are strictly forbidden.

  15. Students must strictly abide by the School's daily schedule. Dormitory entrances close at 24:00 daily. International students must return before closing time.

  16. Household waste must be sorted and disposed of according to the latest version of the "Shanghai Household Waste Sorting and Disposal Guide."

III. Visitor Regulations

  1. Visiting hours:

    • Sunday–Thursday: 8:00-20:30(Visitors must leave by 23:00).

    • Friday–Saturday: 8:00-21:00(Visitors must leave by 24:00).

  2. Chinese students must present a full-time university student ID card, and international visitors must present a passport. Entry is allowed only after registration and approval. All other visitors must be received in the public lounge on the ground floor.
