Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine (former Shanghai Second Medical University) is one of the key universities that enroll overseas students in China. It admits not only scholarship students recommended by the China Scholarship Council, but also non-scholarship for undergraduates, postgraduates, Ph.D. and advanced studies.

With more than 60 years of rapid development, the school has become a state-of-the-art medical school consisting of almost all disciplines, a strong faculty, remarkable academic achievements, and comprehensively developed clinical teaching and research facilities. Situated in the center of city, (on Chongqing Nan Road) near the famous commercial street Huai Hai Road.

The whole school system includes 25 colleges such as Basic Medical College and Clinical Medical College, 12 affiliated hospitals. There are 2 eight-year program (clinical medicine and stomatology), and 7 undergraduate programs (clinical medicine, stomatology, biomedical science, preventive medicine, medicical laboratory sceience, nursing and nutriology). 

The school began to admit foreign students in 1967. Up to now, the school has enrolled  more than 1500 international students from 116 countries and regions of Asia, Africa, North and South Americas, Europe and Oceania. The School has established relations of collegiate and institutional interchange with 64 universities from 21 countries and regions, enhance the academic competence of its staff and faculty, promote the development of disciplines. The International Students Office (Foreign Students Office) is under the leadership of the school authorities responsible for admission and administration for international students.
